SCORING AT A DUAL MEET
Individual Events
The following points are awarded for 1st through 5th places for each individual event at a dual swim meet:
| 6 points | First place |
| 4 points | Second place |
| 3 points | Third place |
| 2 points | Fourth place |
| 1 point | Fifth place |
Relays
The following points are awarded for 1st through 3rd places for each relay race at a dual swim meet:
| 8 points | First place |
| 4 points | Second place |
| 2 points | Third place |
Reminder: No points are awarded when a swimmer swims “exhibition” for a particular event. This is an opportunity for every swimmer to swim in a dual meet. It also allows swimmers to work to improve their times for a particular event. By improving their time, a swimmer may move up to swim for points in a future swim meet.
